Karate Super League Lions Challenge

On Saturday, 13 September 2014 I hosted the LIONS CHALLENGE (on of three tournaments in the Karate Super League series).  As the host and one of the directors of KSL, my students from Solis Ortus really did their part to participate in this tournament.  Congratulations AND thank you to all my Solis Ortus Students.

A special thank you to every other dojo (and its students) who supported the Challenge.  The day was fast paced, exciting and athletes walked away with trophies bigger than themselves!

To our Sponsors (SNT Sport, Girafrica, Millinium Bakery, Excelsior Group, Trophy & Medal Boutique, Shen Sport, Trilithon), THANK YOU!  Hope to see you all again next year!

Solis Ortus Karate Training

You can ask our youngest students (5 years old), you can ask our oldest student (63 years old) – DO YOU ENJOY THE KARATE TRAINING AT SOLIS ORTUS??  The youngsters will say yes, and most of them cannot wait to come to class and enjoy their 1 hour’s training.  Every student, young and old will find something positive out of the karate.

At Solis Ortus we train hard, young and old!  We train hard to perfect our karate technique, we dedicate alot of time and efforts for those students who compete in tournaments, we assist and guide our students who wish to start entering competitions, we focus on our Kata and we burn for our Kumite.  Our instructors attend seminars abroad to bring back new knowledge and we teach our students to the best of our ability and in accordance with Japan Karate Association regulations.

Training hard is not an issue at our dojo – as everybody trains together.  We push each other beyond our own limits just to note that we are stronger than we give ourselves credit.

Everybody is much stronger (mentally, physically, emotionally) than you think.

Come join us for training and come find out how STRONG you really are!

Solis Ortus is growing

Not only is Solis Ortus growing in numbers with regards to our students, we are also growing in numbers with regards to our dojos.  We are proud to inform the public that Solis Ortus now runs dojos in Garsfontein, Faerie Glen and The Wilds.

The Wilds is the newest addition to the club and is run by Sensei William Graham.  The other 2 dojos are run by Sensei Eugene Oosthuizen.  Sensei Eugene and Sensei William grew up together and it is a befitting partnership that these two stunning karatekas train our karate athletes under the Solis Ortus name.

Solis Ortus Garsfontein, Solis Ortus Faerie Glen and Solis Ortus The Wilds welcomes each and everyone to join the Solis Ortus Family and start training today!!

KSA Development

The Gauteng Karate Federation hosted a Development tournament to give all our developments athletes an opportunity to show their worth.  The athletes who placed in the medals automatically qualified to compete in the KSA Developments tournament which was hosted in Durban end of August.

Solis Ortus had 5 students who qualified for the KSA Development Championship and made the dojo very proud with their achievements.  A special congratulations goes out to James Van Zyl who is our only disabled student who also competed in the able division and placed in the medals.

James, you are a true inspiration to us all!!!

Congratulations to my students, all of my students.  I do see a bright future for all of you.

Spring Day

The students at Solis Ortus were treated with some colourful cupcakes on spring day.  Our classes are usually 60 min long, the last 15 minutes are used for games, stretching and cooling down.

However, on spring day we utilised the last 15 minutes to treat our students to some “down” time and we all enjoyed a cup cake.

We also allowed our students to train in their favourite character t-shirt.

Eagles Challenge 2014

On Saturday, 6 September 20 plus Solis Ortus students competed in the Eagles Challenge.

We took 3 Gold medals, 6 Silver medals and 6 Bronze medals.  Congratulations to all my students.

To my first time participants  – I am very proud of you for entering the competition and doing your best.  I hope to see you at many more tournaments in the future.

The my regular participants – Hope you gained some more experience and knowledge with this challenge.  The aim for every competition is not always to win or to place in the medal division, but also to learn. Learn about yourself, your fellow competitors, the competition rules and gain experience.

Here are the results of the day:

Medals and Trophies

Our students train and work very hard as a result for their love of karate.  Their dedication pays off when they compete and it is evident by the amount of medals and trophies Solis Ortus students take home at the various tournaments.

Solis Ortus students also know that if you put in the time and effort, we as instructors will put in equal amount of time and effort in assisting them to become top competing athletes!

We train hard, we compete hard, sometimes we fall hard, but we always get up and share in each other’s victories.

NEVER GIVE UP!
